In 2001 I moved to a different ISP (Internet service provider) and was confronted with the pain of changing my main email address, letting everyone know about it, updating all mailing list subscriptions, and so on.
I registered the tekNico.net Internet domain name to make sure I would not have to go through all that again. (Then came spam, but that is another matter.)
I mostly used the domain for email, and managed to let five years pass by without having a web site that I could call my own: it was time to remedy that rather sorry situation.
This site is very 1995: static pages, no blogs, no wikis, no Javascript, no AJAX. However, the XHTML markup was not written by hand, but automatically generated by the Docutils program, from sources written in ReStructuredText format. Thanks go to David Goodger and contributors for creating a great tool.
Leo
, the literate programming/executable documentation tool, was
used to organize the whole mess. Thanks go to Edward K. Ream and
contributors for creating another great tool, too.
Both tools are written in the wonderful Python programming language.
The dinosaur drawings are courtesy of my children; the image rollover is done with CSS. Thanks, and apologies, to the www.tizag.com web site for the nice color scheme.
The site strives to be bilingual, written in both English and Italian (my mother tongue). However, several pages are not yet available in both languages, and many external links in the Italian pages point to English language pages.
